New limits on awards for unfair dismissal and redundancy come into effect from today (1 February 2007). The increases apply where the event giving rise to the compensation occurs on or after 1 February 2007.

The new limit for unfair dismissal rises to £60,600 from £58,400, and a week’s pay for the purposes of redundancy rises to £310 per week from £290.
